Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled a prosperous country. One day, he decided to visit some of the distant areas of his country. It was the fi rst time he was taking such a long trip. While on the journey, he was quite surprised to see the condition of roads in his country. He had to suffer a lot of pain in his feet due to the rough roads which also had many stones on it. As soon as he returned from the trip, he ordered his people to cover every road of the entire country with leather. FDR piloted the country successfully through two major events - the Great Depression and World War II. His aggressive and unprecedented New Deal programs left a lasting mark on the American landscape. Roosevelt strove to rescue the country from economic disaster.
He is also remembered for his famous "Day of Infamy" speech, an address to Congress after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor causing US to enter the
World War II in 1941. Further, FDR's leadership throughout World War II led to victory for the Allies even though Roosevelt died before the war ended.
