The longest written constitution of the world came into effect on Jan 26, which we now celebrate as the 'Indian Republic Day'. YB tells you, what went into the making of this document and who actually carved it?

The Republic Day

The Constitution of India came into action over throwing the Government of India Act in 1935. The date of 26 January was chosen to honour the declaration of independence. It is one of the three national holidays in India.
Our Constitution
The Indian Constitution is the longest written document in the world and is a mix of the American and the British Constitutions. It is a big book which is the supreme law of our country. It was drafted by the Indian Constituent Assembly headed by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. He is known as the architect of the Indian Constitution.
What does the constitution promise?
The basic idea of the Constitution is that, we the citizens of India accept every word in the Constitution as the whole truth and we respect it with life. Let's understand what drives our country to be one of the peace loving countries in the world.
5 Promises in the Constitution
Sovereignty- Which means we rule the country in a democratic way.
Liberty- All Indians have the right to liberty. Where we can do as we wish until we disrupt others' right to freedom.
Justice- We believe that justice is above all right. Every citizen has the rights towards justice.
Fraternity- Universal brotherhood forms the basics of any society and hence, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jews and more, we all stand together as brothers and sisters.
Equality- All Indians are born equal. There is no one bigger or smaller.
Our Rights
The Fundamental Rights are defined as the basic human rights of all citizens. These rights apply irrespective of race, place of birth, religion, caste, creed or gender.
1) Right to equality: If you got a full chocolate cake, it would be a better idea to share it equally with all the buds in your group. Let's not cheat on an extra piece.
2) Right to freedom of speech and expression of thought: You can be anything you want, and say anything you desire, until and unless you hurt other's sentiments.
3) Right against exploitation: You cannot over work your maid. Be polite and say "thank you" for the services.
